<p>超短パルスレーザーの世界的リーダー企業であるAmplitude社と、商業用核融合の実現に向けた最も科学的に先進的なアプローチを追求する企業であるFocused Energy社は本日、慣性核融合エネルギー分野の発展を目的とした戦略的提携を発表しました。この提携では、米国のFocused Energy社のレーザー開発施設に設置される2つの高エネルギー・高繰り返しレーザーシステムの開発に重点的に取り組む。この開発は、ドイツの画期的イノベーション連邦機関（SPRIND）の支援と資金提供を受けている。</p>

<p>Amplitude Laser GroupとHelmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf（HZDR）は、ドレスデンに共同研究施設を開設し、18年にわたる協力関係をさらに深めています。高出力レーザーDRACOとの共同作業を基盤とする戦略的パートナーシップは、電子および陽子加速に焦点を当て、レーザー診断、コンポーネント、および応用技術の進歩を目指しています。</p>
<p>HZDRのチタンサファイアレーザーシステムDRACO（Dresden laser acceleration source）は、新しい粒子加速器のコンセプトに向けた相対論的レーザープラズマ物理学を推進する先駆的な施設のひとつです。2007年にAmplitude社によって設置されたこのシステムは、それ以来、Amplitude社とHZDRの緊密なパートナーシップにより進化を続け、現在では世界をリードする2ビーム施設のひとつとなっています。</p>

<p>この新しい共同研究所は、DRACOレーザーを軸に次世代チタンサファイアレーザー技術の進歩を先導し、安定性、時間的コントラスト、性能を向上させた高エネルギーおよび高繰り返しシステムをターゲットとしています。また、二次放射源の開発を支援し、がん研究や慣性核融合エネルギー応用における高線量率放射線生物学など、現在の標準を上回る技術を可能にします。</p>
<p>この成功したコラボレーションを強化するために、Amplitudeはフランスに所在するLisses施設からドレスデンに研究開発リソースを投入します。 研究所の業務は、レーザー技術、二次ソース、レーザー計測のための革新的なソリューションの創出に重点的に取り組む予定です。 さらに、これらの取り組みを強化するために、AmplitudeはHZDRの博士号取得者への資金援助を行い、ドレスデンに現地チームを設立し、この地域における強力かつ持続可能な存在を確保します。</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>TIFR has selected Amplitude once again for providing a ultrahigh intensity laser, now a PW laser system, one of the two  most powerful lasers in India. This high-intensity laser system to be installed at TIFR’s   new campus at Hyderabad will be  used to investigate fundamental science  and related applications.</p>
<p>TIFR has been pursuing intense laser-driven basic plasma science for over two decades. The upcoming petawatt laser from Amplitude is an extension of the current fundamental plasma science research activities to the ultrahigh intensity regimes. The spectrum of physics that would be probed with petawatt lasers covers diverse areas such as atomic and molecular physics, relativistic plasma dynamics, warm dense matter, and high-energy particle physics.</p>
<p>The focus of the group is basic research and the questions addressed therefore are of the ‘blue sky’ variety stressing the fundamentals of intense laser-matter interaction. A particularly important area will be particle acceleration and related physics. Attention will also be paid to the applications of the radiation emitted, particularly the high-energy electrons and x-rays for biological imaging and medical therapies.</p>
<blockquote><p>Prof. G. Ravindra Kumar of TIFR says  “Following the successful operation of the 150 TW laser installed at  the UPHILL facility of the TIFR Mumbai campus in 2010, , we are reaffirming our confidence in Amplitude for the reliability and capabilities of their lasers, as well as  the quality of their after-sales service”.</p>
<p>His colleague Prof. M. Krishnamurthy of TIFR, currently the Director of the TIFR-Hyderabad campus says “ With the new petawatt laser, we have great plans to pursue not only the fundamental science that we have always done but also strike out in several innovative technologies in imaging and other applications.”</p></blockquote>
<p>Both Pr. Kumar and Pr. Krishnamurthy and their team look forward to working with other institutions in India and abroad and hope to make the Hyderabad laboratory a global center in the years to come.</p>

<p>« A recent battery manufacturing project—affectionately called BatMan—has developed a novel laser patterning process to microstructure of battery electrode materials. Funded by DOE’s Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Office, this project brings together expert minds from the <a href="https://www.nrel.gov/">National Renewable Energy Laboratory</a>, <a href="https://www.clarios.com/">Clarios</a>, <a href="https://amplitude-laser.com/ja/">Amplitude Laser</a>, and <a href="https://www.liminalinsights.com/">Liminal </a>Insights. This revolutionized manufacturing process could unlock significant improvements to electrified transportation, leading the charge toward a brighter and more sustainable future. (…) Researchers used an Amplitude Laser femtosecond laser system with high-speed galvanometer-controlled scanning optics for the laser ablation, working closely with the Amplitude team to achieve precise control of the laser based on position, power, frequency, and number of pulses. NREL researchers led by Donal Finegan fine-tuned those parameters to optimize the process.</p>
<blockquote><p>“Our collaboration with NREL helped integrate the laser into their existing research capabilities to support the BatMan project goals,” said Quentin Mocaer. “We also received valuable insights into how future system designs and new technologies could further improve this process at an industrial scale.”<br />

<p><span style="color: #ff5100;"><strong>Results in brief:</strong></span></p>
<p>The team National Renewable Energy Laboratory researcher Nathan Dunlap has demonstrated superior FAST-CHARGE PERFORMANCE with nearly 100% more capacity after 800 cycles for electrodes patterned with our lasers. It also shows great improvement in wetting time, beneficiating from channels allowing better Li ions propagation.</p>
<p>Cost-analysis simulations using the Battery Performance and Cost Model indicate industrial adoption would require minimal capital and operational investment, resulting in only ≈ 1-2 $/kWh for a 50 MWh factory. As commercially available, industrial, ultrafast lasers approach the 1 kW average power threshold, there is interest in realizing the above-described benefits to LIB performance in high-throughput electrode manufacturing lines.</p>
