Headed by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.atlas-onco.com\/\">\u201cAlliance Technologique Laser et Sant\u00e9\u201d<\/a>, a French consortium of companies and labs from the Nouvelle Aquitaine region, the first encouraging results have been presented last September 12<sup>th<\/sup> at the Institut d\u2019Optique d\u2019Aquitaine.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Tests have been carried out with an ultrafast laser, called MAGMA 25 manufactured by Amplitude, partner of the project.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3790\" style=\"width: 241px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3790\" class=\"wp-image-3790 \" src=\"https:\/\/amplitude-laser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Image-Rayons-X-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"231\" height=\"231\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amplitude-laser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Image-Rayons-X-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/amplitude-laser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Image-Rayons-X-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/amplitude-laser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Image-Rayons-X-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/amplitude-laser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Image-Rayons-X-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/amplitude-laser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Image-Rayons-X.jpg 1792w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 231px) 100vw, 231px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3790\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Magma laser installed at Alphanov and the first X-ray images obtained with only 1000 shots (10 seconds of operation)<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>How does it work ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff5100;\">&gt;<\/span> Lasers pulses are focused on a metallic element.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff5100;\">&gt;<\/span> They create an intense x-ray source which illuminates samples.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff5100;\">&gt;\u00a0<\/span>The x-ray detector then records the image (just like in hospital and airports)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By using the unique characteristics of x-ray laser sources, it will bring:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff5100;\">&gt;<\/span> a better resolution and sensibility of the final images, so cancerous tumors can be detected earlier,<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff5100;\">&gt;<\/span> a reduction in the dose of x-rays and the length of the procedure.<\/p>\n<p>These initial tests were very successful and validated the team&#8217;s technological choices regarding the integration of this laser X-ray source into a preclinical mammographic imaging system.
